FRIDAY INSPIRATION: PINK HUED ROOMS!
In honour of Valentine's day, it only seems fitting to share pretty and pink kids rooms today!
I still love how we added an overall feeling of pink to Ella's toddler room just by adding accessories.
The pattern in the pink hued rug below adds an eye catching element without overpowering the room.

This bold floral wallpaper steals the show in the nursery below but the curtains and pillow add a perfect pairing too.

Details, details, details! Just look at that custom tack board over the desk adding so much impact in a room just right for a little one and with so much room to grow.

A little darker pink can work beautifully too as seen here paired with mustard yellow! The calm wallpaper is one of my favourites!!!

Have Friday everyone!
HOW TO DIY GIANT PEGBOARD!
Since posting our kids creative art space, I've been asked countless times where we found the giant pegboard!
We didn't buy these pegboards but had them made especially for the space. Instead of replying to each one of you, I thought writing a short post explaining our process could help all of you if you are interested in creating this look for your own home.
I started by using this amazing tutorial and modified it by adding a second board behind the first so that we could have shelves that hold much more weight, as you can see in the photo below.
Once the wood was purchased and cut (thanks Home Depot!), the next step was marking out where the holes would go and we did this with a black Sharpie marker and level. I decided on making the holes 4 inches apart and at least 2 inches from each edge and ensured the top holes were started at the same point on each board (so that it would look right to the eye once mounted).
With two boards, it allows the dowel to go through both boards and will therefore hold more weight. I also wanted a way to know if the kids had pulled a dowel out without the entire shelf falling to the floor. So far, nothing has moved an inch so it seems the boards are very solid yet still appear streamlined!
The boards are quite heavy and so the back board is drilled into a stud in at least one place on each pegboard and the front board is drilled onto the back board with a small piece of wood between to allow a bit of space and provide extra strength. All boards are sitting on a 2x4 at the bottom behind the storage drawers to add an extra support.
If you have any questions at all, please add them to the comments and I will answer them there!
HAPPY FRIDAY + BE YOU!
Yesterday, Noelle (6 years old) came home from school and told me a story that made my heart burst. At school choir she was singing along but felt the need to move so she swung her arms out and did a full twirl. As she turned around, she noticed "about 7 boys staring at me". I asked, "how did that make you feel?". Her reply, "I didn't mind, I was so happy I just wanted to dance!". Her quiet confidence amazes me. Children have an impressive ability to remind us that it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks...what creates inner joy is to just BE YOU!
Have an amazing weekend friends!

OH MONDAY!
1. Happy Monday! A week after we arrived back from Australia and I've been reflecting on what I saw while I was there (apart from the sun!). I love spotting different trends that are happening in other places and couldn't help but notice how popular graphic shaped objects are. Such a fun and easy thing to include in kid's spaces! Here are a few pieces I love.
2. Juggling motherhood and working is a constant battle!!! I run a small business, want to be at as many things as possible for my kids, am hands on in daily happenings (meals, driving, etc.), try to include creative activities in our art space, love my kids, my work, my life but often feel pulled in a million different directions! Anyone else? HOW DO YOU FIND BALANCE??! (please leave me ideas or what works for you in comments below).
3. We have been reading the sweetest series of chapter books for kids by Kallie George, a local Vancouver author. So far books 1 & 2 have won over our 6-year-old twins (and me!) and I have ordered the 3rd book which is being released this week! The 4th book looks like it's coming out this summer and it will definitely make our summer reading list. Highly recommend this sweet series!
4. One day somehow I need to have an indoor swing for kids. How amazing is this gorgeous swing?!!!

5. Yesterday felt like Spring and the sun seemed to give everyone a burst of joy. Let's hope it stays that way all week. Here's a thought for the week.
HELLO!
WINTER DAISY was created when Melissa Barling was laying on the couch while pregnant with twins. She dreamed of a beautiful baby room but couldn't get up and make it happen. The babies were born and in those mid night wakes and early morning feeds, she decided to leave her corporate job to start a design studio + blog. Welcome to WINTER DAISY.
